Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Draft notice: this document was generated to match how the BookAVendor app actually works today. It is not legal advice, and every bracketed [placeholder] below needs a real value. Have a qualified lawyer in Nigeria and the UK review this before it governs real users or real money.

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and [Legal entity name, e.g. "BookAVendor Technologies Ltd"] ("BookAVendor", "we", "us"), the operator of the BookAVendor mobile application, website, and related services (together, the "Platform"). By creating an account, browsing, or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Who Can Use BookAVendor

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account. The Platform has two account types:

  • Booker — a user who searches for, requests, and pays for services from Vendors.
  • Vendor — a user who offers services for booking, receives payment through the Platform, and completes an identity verification process before they can withdraw funds.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account, and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You may not create more than one account, or an account on behalf of someone else, without our permission.

2. What BookAVendor Is — and Isn't

BookAVendor is a marketplace that connects Bookers and Vendors and provides the tools to find services, request quotes, chat, pay, and leave reviews. We are not a party to the contract for services formed between a Booker and a Vendor, and Vendors are independent businesses, not our employees, agents, or partners. We do not supervise, direct, or control how a Vendor performs a service, and we do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any service listed on the Platform.

3. Vendor Verification

Before a Vendor can accept payment or withdraw funds, they must complete an identity verification check carried out by our verification partner, currently Sumsub, which may require a government-issued ID and a live selfie. We may approve, reject, suspend, or request re-verification of a Vendor account at our discretion, including where verification data appears fraudulent, expired, or inconsistent. Verification reduces — it does not eliminate — the risk of dealing with a Vendor, and we do not guarantee that every claim a Vendor makes about themselves or their work is accurate.

Vendors who complete a threshold number of jobs may be awarded a "Verified" badge on their profile. The badge reflects completed-job volume on the Platform, not a guarantee of quality, and may be revoked by us at any time, including for a confirmed complaint.

4. Booking Requests, Quotes & Invoices

A Booker may either send a direct booking request describing the job (which a Vendor can quote by sending an invoice) or book against a Vendor's published service listing. An invoice becomes binding once the Booker accepts it and completes payment. A Vendor may revise a sent invoice's price before it is paid; once revised, only the current amount shown in the app is payable — any earlier figure you may have seen is void.

You are responsible for reading the full details of a booking — location, date, time, and price — before accepting or paying. Disagreements about the scope of work itself are between you and the other party; the dispute process in Section 8 exists to help resolve them where money is involved.

5. Payments, Wallets & Fees

Card and bank payments are processed by our third-party payment processors — Paystack (Nigerian Naira) and Stripe (US Dollars and British Pounds). We do not store your full card number. Each Vendor and Booker has an in-app wallet showing balances by currency; a Vendor's payout for a completed job is credited to their wallet before it can be withdrawn to a bank account.

BookAVendor charges a platform commission on each paid booking, currently 5% of the booking amount (subject to change — the rate applied to your booking is shown before you pay). Where a payment is made by card and we pass on the processor's card fee, that fee is shown separately before you confirm payment.

Vendors may also buy optional extras that are separate from booking commission: promotional placement (Section 9) and additional media storage (Section 11). These can be paid from a wallet balance or by card, and are charged at the price shown at the time of purchase.

Vendor withdrawals are subject to a minimum amount (currently NGN 2,000, or USD/GBP 5, subject to change) and require a verified payout account (a Nigerian bank account for Paystack payouts, or a connected Stripe account for USD/GBP payouts). Withdrawal processing depends on our payment processors and is not always instant.

6. Cancellations & Refunds

6.1 Whose terms apply

Cancellation terms are set per Vendor. A Vendor may propose their own cancellation windows, which take effect only after we have reviewed and approved them. Until that happens — and for any Vendor who has not set their own — the Platform's standard terms apply. The terms governing a particular booking are shown in the app before you pay.

We set limits on how restrictive a Vendor's terms may be, and will not approve terms outside those limits.

6.2 Your terms are fixed when you book

The cancellation terms that apply to a booking are fixed at the moment that booking is created and do not change afterwards. If a Vendor later changes their terms, or we change the Platform's standard terms, every booking already made continues to be governed by the terms that were displayed to you when you booked. Neither a Vendor nor we can alter the cancellation position of a booking you have already paid for.

6.3 If the Booker cancels

The windows below are the Platform's standard terms; a Vendor's own approved terms may differ and, where they do, are the ones shown to you at booking.

  • Before the free-cancellation deadline (Platform standard: more than 5 days before the event): full refund, including the platform commission.
  • Between that deadline and the no-refund cut-off (Platform standard: between 5 days and 48 hours before): the Vendor keeps a set share of their payout (currently 50%) as compensation for the late cancellation; the remainder is refunded.
  • Within the no-refund cut-off (Platform standard: 48 hours before): no refund — the Vendor keeps their full payout.

A Booker may always cancel, whatever the refund position.

6.4 If the Vendor cancels

Where a Vendor cancels a paid booking, the Booker receives a full refund, including the platform commission, however close to the event the cancellation happens.

Vendors cannot cancel at the last minute. So that a Booker is not left without a service on the day, a Vendor may not cancel a paid booking themselves once the event is within their own no-refund cut-off, or within a minimum notice period we set (currently 48 hours), whichever is longer. A Vendor who genuinely cannot fulfil a booking inside that window must contact support; we may then cancel and refund the Booker on their behalf. [Decide and state here whether repeated late cancellations by a Vendor carry a consequence — for example suspension or loss of verified status.]

A booking is marked complete once both parties confirm the job was done, or after an admin override in the limited circumstances described in Section 8. Refunds are returned to your BookAVendor wallet or, where required by the original payment method, back to your card/bank, and may take a number of business days to reflect depending on the processor.

7. Reviews

After a job is marked complete, both parties may leave a rating and review of each other. A review only becomes visible once both sides have submitted one, or after a set period, whichever the app indicates — this is designed to reduce retaliatory reviewing. Reviews must be honest, based on an actual completed booking, and must not contain harassment, discriminatory language, or content unrelated to the service performed. We may remove a review that breaches this or is the subject of a substantiated complaint.

8. Disputes & Complaints

If something goes wrong with a paid booking, you may file a dispute in the app. Our support team will review the evidence submitted by both sides and may resolve a dispute with a refund, a partial refund, or no refund, at our reasonable discretion. Where a Vendor does not respond to a completion request within a notice-and-grace period shown in the app, we may complete the booking administratively and release the Vendor's payout, or resolve a dispute in the Booker's favour with a refund — these are limited, evidence-gated overrides, not something we do routinely.

Our decision on a Platform dispute is final as between you and BookAVendor's own handling of the booking, but does not prevent you from pursuing a separate legal claim against the other party where the law allows it.

9. Promotions & Paid Visibility

Vendors may purchase sponsored listing placement or advertising slots. Once a promotion is activated it is generally non-refundable, except where required by applicable consumer protection law or where the promotion failed to activate due to a fault on our side.

Advertisements are reviewed by us before they appear, and may be rejected. A rejected advertisement is refunded in full to the Vendor's wallet. Advertisements link only to the advertising Vendor's profile on the Platform — they do not carry links to external websites or messaging services.

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to: provide false identity, business, or payment information; attempt to circumvent the Platform's payment or verification systems; harass, threaten, or discriminate against another user; post fraudulent listings or reviews; use the Platform for any unlawful purpose; or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform, another user's account, or our systems. We may suspend or terminate an account for a breach of this section, with or without notice depending on severity.

11. Content You Provide

You retain ownership of the photos, descriptions, messages, and reviews you post on the Platform. By posting them, you grant BookAVendor a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and reproduce that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform. Everything else about the Platform — its name, logo, design, and software — belongs to BookAVendor or our licensors.

11.1 Media quality

Photos and videos uploaded to a profile or a service listing must meet minimum quality requirements — currently a minimum image size and a minimum video resolution, both shown in the app and subject to change. Uploads below those requirements are refused at the point of upload. These requirements do not apply to evidence submitted with a complaint, or to images sent in support chat, so that you are never prevented from reporting a problem.

11.2 Storage allowance

Each Vendor has a storage allowance for the photos and videos on their service listings — currently 500MB, subject to change. Profile photos and verification documents do not count towards it.

An upload that would exceed the allowance is refused, and the app will tell you how much space you are short. Deleting media frees the space it occupied immediately, at no charge.

A Vendor who needs more space may purchase additional storage at the price shown in the app. Purchased storage does not expire. It is not refundable once added to your account, except where a refund is required by applicable consumer protection law or where the purchase failed through a fault on our side. If we increase the free allowance, the increase applies to all Vendors, including those who have already purchased extra storage.

We may remove content that breaches these Terms. Where an account is closed or terminated, uploaded media is deleted in line with Section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

12. Account Suspension & Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, is subject to unresolved fraud or abuse concerns, or where required by law. On termination, any funds legitimately owed to you will still be payable, subject to our standard withdrawal process and any funds reasonably held back pending an open dispute.

13. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BookAVendor disclaims all warranties about the Platform's availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose, and about the conduct, quality, or reliability of any Vendor or Booker. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Platform, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the platform commission we actually earned on the booking giving rise to the claim, except where a limitation of liability is not permitted by law (for example, in relation to death, personal injury, or fraud).

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify BookAVendor against any claim, loss, or expense arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or a service you provided or received through the Platform.

15. Third-Party Services

Certain features of the Platform rely on third-party providers, including Paystack and Stripe (payments and payouts) and Sumsub (identity verification). Your use of those features is also subject to that provider's own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for outages or errors caused by a third-party provider.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Where a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law & Disputes

[Placeholder — confirm with legal counsel:] Because the Platform serves both Nigerian and UK users, the governing law and courts (or arbitration forum) that apply to a dispute with BookAVendor need to be fixed based on where the operating entity is actually incorporated and where it wishes disputes to be resolved. This section should not be finalized without that decision.
